Soul's Remnant Weapons — Elements, Transmutation & Upgrades
How weapons work in Soul's Remnant: elements, Transmutation, gems, upgrade slots and which weapons suit each build path.
Updated Aug 15, 2026
In Soul's Remnant, weapons are your class. Because the game is classless, switching weapons changes which active skills you have access to — so choosing the right weapon for your build path matters more than in a traditional MMO.
Weapon families
Weapons come in families that suit different builds:
- Greatsword — slow, heavy single-target melee damage.
- Sword & Shield — defensive melee with a panic block.
- Bows — ranged DEX weapons for kiting and burst.
- Staves / wands — INT magic weapons for casting.
- Tomes / faith tools — SPR weapons for healing and buffs.
Each family unlocks its own skill kit, so experiment freely — respecs are cheap and nothing locks you out of a second line.
Elements
Weapons carry one of seven elements, and Transmutation lets you change it (official wiki). Match your weapon's element effect to your build — the Normal element's bonus damage proc is a safe default if you are not sure.
Gems and upgrade slots
Gear with upgrade slots can take gems:
- Gems have a low chance to drop from any monster.
- Using a gem destroys it and removes one Upgrade Slot from the piece of equipment, applying its effect and adding (+1) to the line.
- Drag the gem over the equipment in your inventory to use it; left-click uses one gem, right-click makes using multiple gems in a row easier.
- Items with only one possible stat line should use Nurturing Gems instead.
The One Line Upgrade Trick is the early-game way to get the most out of both your gems and your souls: focus all upgrade slots into one stat line you actually need.
Calamity Gems — high risk, high reward
The Calamity Gem is the risky one: it has a low chance to destroy the item when used, so it is always a gamble. Only use Calamity Gems on equipment you can afford to lose. See our Calamity Gem guide for the full breakdown.
Echoes
Auras and Weapons are the only equipment that can roll Attack Speed Echoes, lowering the cooldown of all skills affected by the relevant attack speed type. Prioritize gear with the echo lines your build needs — the wiki recommends keeping two echo lines on every piece.
