Soul's Remnant Melee Build — STR Guide
The most forgiving Soul's Remnant build: STR stats, heavy weapons, stagger combat and a 25–30% CON split for survivability.

Why play melee?
Melee is the most forgiving build path in Soul's Remnant. STR powers your weapon skills, heavy weapons hit hard, and stagger-focused combat punishes greedy bosses. If you are new to the game — or you keep dying in the level 20+ zones — start here.
Stat split
Put most of your points into STR for melee damage, and keep about 25–30% in CON. The launch-week rule is a 3:1 split between your main stat and CON; on melee that means roughly 70% STR / 30% CON (player strategy).
- STR — melee damage and heavy weapon scaling.
- CON — health pool and DEF. Melee needs it because you stand in front.
Core skills
Melee combat runs on weapon skills plus a few utility picks. Skills level individually by use and need monster-dropped essences to upgrade, so pick two or three skills you will actually use and feed them (official wiki).
- Slash — the melee bread-and-butter for single-target damage.
- Onslaught — a skill that scales from all four damage types, so it pairs with nearly any stat spread (official wiki).
- Blink — unlock it early; almost every launch-week player treats movement as mandatory.
Pair a Greatsword (single-target) with a Sword & Shield (panic block) and you cover most situations.
Gear priorities
Melee damage is your icon stat, and it comes from gear rather than stat points (official wiki). Prioritize equipment with melee damage rolls, then add echo lines on top:
- Keep two echo lines on every gear piece as the wiki recommends.
- Energetic Souls are common while grinding — save rare souls for your best equipment.
- Run monster research on the mobs you farm most for the 5% EXP and drop bonus.
Solo vs group
- Solo viability: 8/10. Heavy weapons plus CON make it forgiving.
- Group viability: 9.5/10. A frontline melee holds aggro and staggers bosses while the party bursts.
